Methodist Healthcare is the largest provider of healthcare services in the region and enjoys the highest consumer preference share of services as measured by the National Research Corporation (NRC). The Methodist Healthcare System now operates nine hospitals in San Antonio, a freestanding emergency center in Boerne, and manages the Val Verde Regional Medical Center in Del Rio, Texas and Medina Regional Hospital in Hondo, Texas. Methodist Healthcare System was formed in 1995 as a 50-50 co-ownership between the local Methodist Healthcare Ministries and HCA.
