Methodist Healthcare: First and Only Hospital in South Texas to Receive Texas Award for Performance Excellence

Methodist Healthcare has been selected to receive the Texas Award for Performance Excellence (TAPE) from the Quality Texas Foundation, representing the highest level of quality an organization can achieve in the state of Texas. Methodist Healthcare is the first health care system in South Texas and the third organization in San Antonio to receive the TAPE award since the inception of the award in 1994.

Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital (MSTH), a campus of Methodist Hospital, has performed its 250th paired kidney exchange, setting a national record for a single hospital, while performing 10 lifesaving exchange transplants during the last week of January.

Expansion Brings Much Needed ICU Beds to the Center City. A major expansion for the hospital, the tower includes expanded radiology and emergency department services, a new gastrointestinal lab, a 24-bed intensive care unit, and space for future growth. The new tower connects to the exhibiting building with a sky bridge that expands across Laurel Avenue.

Methodist Hospital Awarded “A” by Hospital Safety Score – Methodist Hospital was honored this week with an “A” grade in the Fall 2013 update to the Hospital Safety Score, which rates how well hospitals protect patients from accidents, errors, injuries and infections. The Hospital Safety Score is compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading experts on patient safety and is administered by The Leapfrog Group (Leapfrog), an independent industry watchdog.
