Representatives of Metropolitan Methodist Hospital, a campus of Methodist Hospital, and Broadway Bank announced plans on Tuesday for a new multimillion dollar construction project at Interstate-35 between McCullough and Brooklyn. The resulting three-story building will feature 35,500 square feet with Broadway Bank occupying 5,000 square feet on the first floor. Additional space will be leased to physicians practicing in downtown San Antonio when the building is finished next spring.

“This project is truly a win-win situation for our community. We’re creating jobs and stimulating growth in downtown San Antonio,” said Elwood Bernard Boone, III, chief executive officer, Metropolitan Methodist Hospital. “Metropolitan Methodist Hospital was built in 1973 and has provided outstanding medical services in a convenient and central location. We already have two medical office buildings adjacent to Metropolitan and look forward to providing additional office space to physicians.” The new building will be located just south of the hospital.

“Broadway Bank is pleased to be associated with Metropolitan Methodist Hospital in providing a modern facility to help meet the medical and financial needs of the local community and the downtown area of San Antonio,” said Jim Goudge, Broadway Bank chairman and CEO. “The new structure depicts the continued growth and progress of the area and will serve as a valuable resource to the growing needs of residents, medical and business professionals, and merchants of the area.”

Besides leasing space for physicians’ offices, the new facility will be the future home of the Broadway Bank Downtown Banking Center that is currently located at 425 Soledad. This full-service banking center includes a safe deposit vault and offers a complete portfolio of financial products and services for personal and business banking needs, private banking, military banking and wealth management services. In the spirit of supporting small business events and community related activities, the current design calls for a community room. Plans include a four-lane motor bank including a drive-up ATM.

The project architectural firm is Chesney, Morales and Associates. The contractor is Koontz McCombs. Construction management is being handled by Project Control.
