Methodist Hospital

Methodist Hospital provides comprehensive care services for inpatients and outpatients undergoing treatment. A 32-bed unit is dedicated to cancer care with specially trained nurses available to provide the compassionate care needed by both the patient and their family. The hospital also maintains a blood and marrow stem cell transplant program with a 10-bed inpatient unit specializing in the care and treatment of blood cancers and other disorders. Methodist Hospital blood and marrow stem cell transplant program was the first in North America to be accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cell Therapy (FACT).

Methodist Hospital is also home to South Texas’ only Gamma Knife® Center, a non-invasive treatment method that precisely targets radioactive beams on tumors and other lesions buried deep inside the brain. The emergency department features an innovative program to fast track outpatients undergoing chemotherapy treatment who experience a fever or shaky chills. The hospital offers the newest DaVinci® Surgical System, offering women the latest technology for minimally invasive hysterectomy procedures – meaning smaller incisions, less pain and faster recovery.

The Palliative Care Team at Methodist Hospital not only works to alleviate the physical suffering experienced by an individual but also addresses the emotional, spiritual and social stressors that directly impact one’s quality of life. Palliative care focuses on aggressively managing symptoms whether these symptoms are related to the side effects of curative treatment or to the illness itself.

Along with your physician, the Palliative Care Team at Methodist Hospital provides comfort and support to individuals and families facing a serious illness or severe chronic pain. This specially-trained team of professionals includes physicians, nurses, social workers and chaplains providing comfort and resources to the patient and family.

Metropolitan Methodist HospitalA Campus of Methodist Hospital

Metropolitan Methodist Hospital offers a “Community Cancer Center” with a dedicated oncology unit featuring 12 inpatient beds and three infusion chairs for chemotherapy. The hospital has downtown’s first DaVinci® Surgical System, a surgeon-controlled robot used for minimally invasive surgical to remove tumors from the abdomen and colorectal area in a minimally invasive way. Metropolitan Methodist Hospital also features a Breast Care Center to help coordinate follow up diagnosis and treatment following an abnormal mammogram.

Methodist Specialty and Transplant HospitalA Campus of Methodist Hospital

Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital provides the most robotic surgery procedures in South Texas at a single facility using the DaVinci® Surgical System. The device is mainly used by surgeons to remove tumors and other lesions in the abdominal and colorectal areas of the body. A team of surgeons specialize in the treatment of liver tumors, using various techniques to shrink and remove tumors, giving some patients a better chance to be considered for a liver transplant.

Northeast Methodist HospitalA Campus of Methodist Hospital

Northeast Methodist Hospital maintains a community cancer center with a dedicated unit of 12 inpatient beds and five infusion chairs for outpatient chemotherapy. The hospital’s surgeons specialize in the treatment of lung and colorectal cancers.

Methodist Children’s HospitalA Campus of Methodist Hospital

Methodist Children’s Hospital is the only hospital in San Antonio and South Texas designed and built especially for children. The hospital features a dedicated hematology, oncology and transplant unit for children undergoing treatment for cancer and diseases affecting the immune system. The blood and marrow stem cell transplant program is the third largest of its kind in the nation.
