Advanced Technology for Hip and Partial Knee Replacements
Methodist Texsan Hospital, accredited by the Joint Commission, is proud to offer the latest advancement in hip and partial knee replacements in San Antonio. Since 2010, the Mako™ Robotic-Arm Assisted System has been used in hospitals around the world to help surgeons more precisely size, position, and align implants for each patient.
About Mako™ Robotic-Arm Assisted System
Before surgery, the technology develops a model of the patient’s joint from images taken by a CT scan. Using this 3D model, the doctor plans the optimal size and position of the implants. During the surgery, real-time feedback helps with ideal placement of the implant. The results are less invasive surgery, reduced possibility of complications, and faster recovery period.
For some adults, a total knee replacement is not necessary. The precision of the Mako™ Robotic-Arm Assisted System’s technology lets doctors resurface only those parts of the knee damaged by osteoarthritis, sparing healthy bones and ligaments. This less invasive approach, with the most accurate sizing and placement of the implant, results in more natural knee movement after surgery. Additionally, recovery is shorter and active adults can return to their physical lifestyles sooner.
