Methodist Healthcare provides a caring, supportive environment for adults and seniors in need of inpatient psychiatric care. The Methodist Healthcare Department of Psychiatry has 74 beds at Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital devoted to providing four clinical programs including treatment of chemical dependency, acute mental illness, geriatrics and higher functioning adults. Treatments for anxiety disorders, major depression, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, schizophrenia and mood disorders are also offered. The chemical dependency unit accepts both chemical dependency disorders and individuals with both chemical dependency and a mental diagnosis. Call 210-575-0500 for a referral or more information.
Emergency Intervention
The Department of Psychiatry Clinical Liaison–Consultation Team provides psychiatric evaluation, triage and counseling for families of critically ill and chronically ill patients. Our Psychiatric Assessment Team is available around the clock in any Methodist Healthcare emergency department to assist the emergency department physician in evaluating behavioral health emergencies and recommending treatment options.
