Our rehabilitation centers in San Antonio are conveniently located across the city so you can recover from your illness or injury close to home. We are dedicated to helping you get past the hurdles of recovery and back to your life including work, family, active retirement and independent living.

Methodist Healthcare’s inpatient rehabilitation program is designed to help you move through the continuum of care and to your discharge destination in the most medically appropriate and cost-effective way based on your individual needs. We are dedicated to provide access to care necessary to meet your medical, physical, psychological and social needs in an environment that promotes wellness, confidence and independence.

While in our rehabilitation center, we encourage you to:

  • Participate in daily care such as dressing and grooming
  • Join in individual and group activities to help you resume normal activities
  • Eat meals with others in the dining room
  • Participate in an individualized therapy program

Can I have visitors?

Visits from family and friends are encouraged. Their participation in your treatment and education programs is recommended. Visiting hours are Monday - Saturday: 4:00pm – 8:30pm and Sunday, 12:00pm - 8:30pm We respectfully request that visitors not interrupt your treatment schedule or rest breaks. We want you to receive the maximum benefit from the program that’s been tailored to meet your needs.

Will insurance pay?

Medicare and most commercial insurance plans pay for the rehabilitation services provided by Methodist Healthcare. Some insurance plans will also cover your co-payment responsibility. A representative from the hospital can answer any question you and your family may have about your benefits and coverage.

What to bring

Patients get dressed and participate in activities each day in the rehabilitation center, so you should bring the following items:

  • Comfortable clothing
    • Several changes of exercise clothing is a popular choice
    • Clothing with elastic waist bands and easy closures are recommended
  • Sweater or light jacket
  • Rubber soled shoes, flat non-skid walking or tennis shoes
  • Bathrobe and nonskid house shoes
  • Nightgown/pajamas
  • Toothbrush, toothpaste, and other grooming items such as shaving equipment, deodorant, hair brush and makeup
  • Eyeglasses and/or hearing aids
  • Assistive devices you may already have (cane, walker, wheelchair, braces)
  • Mementos from home to make your stay pleasant such as photos, memorabilia, stationery, CD player and CDs
  • Items that assist you with spiritual comfort which will not interfere with the comfort of your neighbors
  • Hobby items such as needle crafts, reading materials, etc...
  • A list of medications you are currently taking

What not to bring

For your comfort and safety, we ask you not to bring:

  • Medications. These will be administered and supervised by your nurse, unless prior arrangements have been made with your doctor and our pharmacist
  • Excessive or expensive jewelry or other valuable items
  • Credit cards, checkbook or large amounts of cash
  • Family keepsakes or other personal items that cannot be replaced

Personal valuables

We cannot keep money, jewelry or credit cards for you. We suggest these items be left at home. We are not responsible for any money or articles you decide to bring with you.
