When summer break begins, access to a free or reduced breakfast and lunch ends. A staggering 1 in 4 children in our community experience food insecurity, which means than 200,000 students in Bexar County are at risk of going hungry during the summer break. Before his passing, Rowan Windham hoped to eliminate this problem. In his honor, Methodist Healthcare champions a cereal drive every June to help with trying to reach Rowan's goal of ending childhood hunger. Your donation benefits the Kids.
Breakfast of Champions, Student Nomination
Methodist Children’s Hospital is accepting nominations for the next class of student Champions.
In honor of the late Rowan Windham, a patient and giving child who put the good of others before himself, Methodist Children’s Hospital is honoring the students in our community who exemplify Rowan’s generous qualities. These Champions will be celebrated and honored at the 2nd Annual Breakfast of Champions on Friday, June 7, 2019.
The newest class of Champions will be entrusted with developing a community initiative over the next year.
If you know a child who demonstrates leadership skills and who gives back to their community we want to hear from you! An ideal candidate has taken a stand for what is right, whether it be against bullying, homelessness, child hunger, etc. This Champion may also spend his or her time volunteering and advocating for causes larger than themselves.
Nominations for Breakfast of Champions is now closed. We appreciate everyone's submissions and check back in June to see our winners!
