While we offer traditional valve replacement surgeries, we specialize in caring for patients with critical aortic valve stenosis who are not good candidates for conventional valve replacement surgery. We offer the option of a catheter-delivered aortic valve stent using a trans-femoral approach instead of a median sternotomy or cardiopulmonary bypass.
The South Texas Heart Valve Center is located in the South Texas Medical Center in Methodist Plaza.
Minimally invasive heart valve replacement
Methodist offers new hope for seniors with a heart valve condition.
If you are a senior who has been told that your heart condition is inoperable because of your age or other conditions, we have some wonderful news for you. The South Texas Heart Valve Center, a department of Methodist Hospital, now offers a new, lifesaving procedure: transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). We are the first private hospital in San Antonio to offer this minimally invasive procedure.
