Childbirth Education Classes
One of the many benefits of the WomanPlus® program is FREE childbirth education classes when delivering at Methodist Hospital, Metropolitan Methodist Hospital, or Methodist Stone Oak Hospital. There is a $25 materials fee applicable to the Labor and Delivery Classes, only. Note: By attending our classes, you will be automatically added to our WomanPlus program if you are not already a member.

Classes are offered on several dates at multiple locations. Classes fill up quickly, so early registration is required. Some classes are available in Spanish, upon request.
FirstSteps® Course Offerings
Preregistration is required:
A walking group available for mothers who are trying to get pregnant, currently pregnancy, or recently had a baby. This group meets every Monday and Wednesday at 6:30 am and 10:00 am. During this time, women are encouraged to start creating and nourishing bonds that only motherhood can support. An instructor will be available to answer questions on safe exercise during and after pregnancy, as well as nutrition tips for pregnancy and breastfeeding.
A one or two day course on the fundamentals of childbirth. This course is available at all hospitals (Methodist, Metropolitan Methodist, and Stone Oak) and includes a tour of the hospital hosting the class. For additional practice, participants are encouraged to attend Comfort Measures.
Cost: $25 Materials Fee
Offers the opportunity to establish a foundation in the comfort of your own space and at your pace. this course can be combined with Comfort Measures to complete the experience.
This course will present the foundations of breastfeeding for singles and multiples. it will prepare you to start breastfeeding as soon as your baby is born. This course is available online and in-person.
This course will prepare you for transition into your new role as a parent, the baby's homecoming, and learn basic infant care. This course is offered both online and in-person.
This course offers the opportunity to practice breathing, meditation, imagery, and positions prior to the big day and supports the online and the traditional childbirth education courses. This class may be taken without attending or completing a childbirth education course.
This course is available to teens and young adults as they prepare for pregnancy, childbirth, and life afterwards. They will discuss the unique challenges that lay ahead for the mothers and coping techniques.
This NON-CERTIFICATION course is designed to teach basic life support (CPR) and first aid.
Car Seat 101
This course is designed to give parents information on which car seat is best for their most precious cargo: their infant, toddler or child. Certified child passenger safety technicians review the basics of correct car seat selection based on criteria that emphasizes safety, child-appropriateness, vehicle consideration and convenience. Also covered is information on after-market products and the reason why second-hand car seats may not be safe to use.
Car Seat Safety Check
Drive on up and have a certified car seat safety technician check and teach you how to correctly install your car seat to ensure maximum safety. The technician will check for fit, the correct angle, and a tight installation.

A course that takes fathers-to-be or brushing up fathers through the journey of understanding pregnancy, stages of labor, birth plan, breastfeeding, and much more.
Courses Coming Soon
Our new approach to childbirth education and healthy pregnancy. This three part series incorporates light physical activity including group exercise, walking groups, and prenatal yoga supervised by personal trainers with expertise in prenatal, pregnancy and postpartum mothers.

As an expectant parent, you may wonder what your fur baby's reaction will be to your new baby. This course will offer tips on how to transition your fur baby to its new role.
