Specialized programs and services

Methodist Hospital Stone Oak Joint Replacement Center

The Methodist Hospital Stone Oak Joint Replacement Center is home to orthopedic surgeons, technicians, nurses, occupational therapists and physical therapists who help knee and hip replacement patients return to their favorite activities as soon as possible. Our coordinated care program is designed to provide a care approach from pre-op education through recovery for all joint replacement patients.

As a part of the joint replacement journey, Methodist Hospital Stone Oak offers a free seminar designed to prepare you for your upcoming orthopedic surgery. This comprehensive class is required for all joint orthopedic patients. Our team will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to ensure the best possible recovery. You will hear from your orthopedic center team including nursing, case management and a member of our rehabilitation team. The class is designed to help you prepare for surgery, understand managing your pain during recovery, and the importance of early mobility. We have found patients attending the class are more prepared for each phase of the joint replacement process from pre-admission through their discharge home.

Methodist Hospital Stone Oak Rehabilitation Center

Methodist Hospital Stone Oak Rehabilitation Center is a freestanding facility that offers a safe and comfortable environment for patients to go through rehabilitation and therapy. When injuries occur, sometimes additional care is necessary as a part of the safe transition to being discharged home. Our rehabilitation center offers patients and their loved ones the expertise of rehabilitation and therapy services in a convenient setting, while still close to the hospital if additional care is required.

Enhanced Surgical Recovery (ESR) Program

ESR is a new way of improving the experience of patients who need major surgery. It helps patients recover sooner so life can return to normal as quickly as possible. The ESR program focuses on encouraging patients to be actively involved in their recovery.

This approach is a patient-centered, research based, multidisciplinary approach that uses specific steps for before surgery, during surgery and after surgery that help to optimize patient outcomes and overall experience. Starting with your physicians office and through your recovery, you play an active role in your care plan.

Why ESR?

Based on research our program offers a variety of benefits to our patients*:

  • Faster recovery
  • Fewer complications
  • Decrease in pain medication use
  • Shorter hospital stays
  • Improved outcomes

*Individual results may vary per patient. Please always consult your provider as you work through your individual care plan.

Orthopedic care at Methodist Healthcare

Orthopedic doctors, called orthopedists, take care of bones and joints. This includes knee pain, total joint replacement, issues that impact your spine and more. You might need to see an orthopedist if you have arthritis or osteoporosis, or if you've had a recent sprain, strain or broken bone.
