Chief Executive Officer, Methodist Hospital Texsan and Methodist Hospital Ambulatory Surgery

Scott Rausch

Scott Rausch joined Methodist Hospital Texsan as Chief Executive Officer in July 2019. Scott is also the CEO of Methodist Hospital Ambulatory Surgery.

Previously, Scott served four years as the Chief Operating Officer of Methodist Hospital Stone Oak. During his tenure there, he oversaw surgical services and numerous expansions. He managed the 100-bed expansion that opened in 2017 and the OR expansion that opened in 2019. He also led the opening of the Acute Rehab Facility.

Scott’s career with Methodist Healthcare began as a summer intern in 2007 at Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant. As a result of his internship, he decided to attend Trinity University and make a career of healthcare leadership. He joined HCA in 2010 as Administrative Intern at Medical City Arlington in the North Texas HCA Division. In 2014, Scott was accepted into the COO development program and was relocated back home to San Antonio.

Suraj Maraj, MD

Chief Medical Officer, Methodist Hospital Texsan

Suraj Maraj

Suraj Maraj, MD, joined Methodist Hospital Texsan as Chief Medical Officer in 2018. During his tenure he has been responsible for physician relationships and operations. Methodist Hospital Texsan has been recognized for their outstanding performance as Best Places to Work in Healthcare and their excellence in patient experience.

Prior to joining Methodist Healthcare, Dr. Maraj worked as a Physician Advisor with Accretive Health and as a clinical cardiologist with the VA System from 2011 to 2017.

Dr. Maraj is a graduate of Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland, and holds a medical degree in internal medicine. He completed a cardiovascular disease fellowship at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Pennsylvania. He has also completed his Lean Six Sigma Green Belt from the Six Sigma Global Institute. Dr. Maraj is board certified in cardiovascular disease, cardiac nuclear imaging, echocardiography, and internal medicine.

Amanda Wood

Chief Nursing Officer, Methodist Hospital Texsan

Amanda Wood

Amanda Wood joined Methodist Hospital Texsan as Chief Nursing Officer in June 2017. During her tenure, she has been responsible for driving service line growth, staff development and cost reduction.

Amanda’s career began in 2004 at Independence Regional Medical Center, Missouri. Amanda has been recognized in many areas for achieving top results across the division in quality outcomes. Amanda has a proven healthcare executive management record of accomplishment with over 15 years of experience with HCA. Her other roles include Vice President of Nursing, Associate Vice President of Nursing, and Director of Nursing.

Megan Cool Amalakuhan

Chief Operating Officer, Methodist Hospital Texsan

Megan Cool Amalakuhan

Megan Cool Amalakuhan started serving Methodist Hospital Texsan as the Chief Operating Officer in November 2018 and oversees surgical, ancillary and support services. Previously, Megan served 3 years as the Chief Financial Officer. During her tenure, she has made many contributions leading to volume growth and service line development. From 2018 to early 2020, she led the campus’s first major expansion project while also broadening imaging capabilities.

Megan’s career began in October 2005 at TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center in Smyrna, Tennessee. From 2009 to 2015, she was part of HCA’s performance improvement department, where she provided leadership and oversight for projects valued in total of $90 million in 13 different markets across the US.

Megan is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

David Heckman, CPA

Chief Financial Officer, Methodist Hospital Texsan

David Heckman

David Heckman joined Methodist Hospital Texsan as Chief Financial Officer in December 2018. David has direct responsibility for all financial activities to include accounting and budgeting along with planning and development of operational strategies.

David most recently served as Vice President of Finance at Methodist Hospital. He supported various projects to include the $252 million campus expansion, along with overseeing all financial aspects of facility operations.

David joined Methodist Healthcare in 1998 and has served in various roles, such as controller, assistant controller and senior financial analyst. David holds a Certified Public Accountant license in the state of Texas.
