Megan Cool Amalakuhan, FACHE
Chief Executive Officer
Amalakuhan’s healthcare journey started in 2005 outside of Nashville in the finance department at TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center. In 2009, she began a transition into operations and leadership with the corporate performance improvement department, concluding that chapter as vice president of performance improvement in the Central/West Texas division in Austin.
Amalakuhan joined Methodist Healthcare in 2015 at Methodist Hospital Texsan in a dual role as chief financial officer and leader of all operations and business development functions. In 2018, she became the first chief operations officer of Methodist Hospital Texsan, focusing on growth and operational excellence within the cardiovascular and orthopedic service lines.
In 2022, Amalakuhan joined the leadership team at Methodist Hospital Metropolitan as chief operating officer. During her tenure, she led year-over-year growth within the cardiovascular service line partnering with multiple affiliated physicians. She secured a new anesthesia provider group and helped develop and execute multiple capital deployment strategies in surgical services.
In August 2023, Amalakuhan was named the first chief executive officer of Methodist Hospital Westover Hills. With over 18 years of experience in the healthcare field, Megan has successfully led several major growth initiatives within key service lines, while continuing to drive improvements in service and quality excellence.
She is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and holds a BBA in Business Finance and an MBA with a concentration in management and organizational behavior from Middle Tennessee State University.
April Tolson, MSN, RN, CNOR
Chief Nursing Officer
Tolson joined Methodist Healthcare in 2008 and has held numerous leadership roles throughout her tenure. She most recently served as associate chief nursing officer at Methodist Children’s Hospital, where she supported nursing operations, program development and performance improvement for 14 departments including surgical services, women’s services and pediatrics.
Under her leadership, Tolson was successful in the re-designation of NICU Level 4 and Maternal Level 4. She also supported nursing and surgical growth for the pediatric congenital heart program. She also decreased induction delays by 63 percent while increasing deliveries by five percent.
Prior to that, April was vice president of surgical services at Methodist Hospital and Methodist Children’s Hospital, where she provided oversight to 35 operating rooms and 380 full-time team members, which supported the more than 18,000 surgical cases performed annually. She successfully increased enhanced surgical recovery and instrumental in growing the campus’ robotic surgery program.
Joe Vasquez
Chief Financial Officer
Vasquez comes to Methodist Hospital Westvover Hills from Methodist Hospital Atascosa, where he had served as chief financial officer since 2019. He has played a pivotal role in streamlining expenses and the reducing inefficiencies.
Prior to his role at Methodist Hospital Atascosa, Vasquez was the controller at Methodist Hospital Stone Oak for nine years. His contributions were instrumental in the facility's growth, including expansions in the operating room and tower and the introduction of new service lines.
Vasquez holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Texas at San Antonio and completed the HCA Healthcare Executive Development Program in 2018.
