Types of weight loss surgery we offer

The Methodist Healthcare Weight Loss Center At Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant takes time to understand your needs and health background before we make the decision to perform weight loss surgery. If surgery is the best option, you are in good hands. Our highly skilled surgeons use the latest advancements in bariatric surgery to offer the following procedures:

  • Duodenal switch
  • Laparoscopic adjustable gastric band
  • Revision surgery
  • Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB)
  • Sleeve gastrectomy

Minimally invasive procedures

Robot-assisted bariatric surgery is a minimally invasive method that results in improved accuracy and shorter recovery time. Using this method, our surgeons will make a small incision and insert a camera. The 3D view allows the surgeon to make precise micro-movements to complete the surgery. This method causes less scarring and lowers the chance of infection.

Bariatric support groups

We provide support groups to patients who have undergone bariatric surgery or are considering the procedure. We meet on the second Wednesday of each month from 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at the following address:

8038 Wurzbach Rd., Physician’s Plaza I, Suite 365
San Antonio, Texas 78229

For more information about the support group, call the Methodist Healthcare HealthLine at (210) 575-0355.
