Our inpatient rehabilitation services
Certain medical conditions or unexpected accidents may cause pain, limited function and limited mobility in the body. When these issues arise, patients find the care they need at our Inpatient Rehabilitation Center at Methodist Hospital Texsan. Our multidisciplinary rehabilitation team consists of physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, rehabilitation nurses, nurse case managers and physicians. Our hospital-based rehab program offers 24-hour on-site availability of physicians, diagnostic testing and emergency care if needed. All patients are offered behavior psychological services, dietary evaluations and wound care consultations as needed.
Over 80 percent of our patients are discharged to return home immediately without additional intensive rehabilitative care. In collaboration with patients and their loved ones, Methodist Healthcare offers individualized physical, occupational and speech therapies as well as treatment plans that focus on potential, not limitations.
We treat individuals with conditions including:
- Brain injuries
- Cardiac conditions
- Orthopedic injuries
- Neurological conditions
- Movement disorders
- Other disabling medical conditions or injuries
Upon completion of the rehabilitation program, our team will assist in making arrangements for equipment, medical care or other services that can enhance your return to independence.
Rehabilitation refers to the process of helping a patient recover from a serious injury or illness. Patients often have to regain strength and learn new ways of completing normal, daily activities. Physical therapy focuses on building strength and mobility after disease, injury or surgery. Occupational therapy focuses on activities of daily living, i.e. showering, dressing and eating. Speech therapy focuses on improving swallowing, language and cognitive skills, i.e. problem solving and decision making.
