San Antonio, TX  – Methodist Children’s Hospital expands the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to providing exceptional care for children in need of critical medical attention. The newly expanded 24-bed PICU represents a substantial investment in pediatric healthcare infrastructure and will significantly enhance our capacity to serve the needs of our young patients and their families.

This expansion project allows us to relocate our general PICU patients to a brand-new, state-of-the-art unit, freeing up space and resources to focus on the specialized care required for our cardiac pediatric patients within our existing footprint. By separating general and cardiac patients into dedicated areas, each child receives the specialized attention and treatment they require, tailored to their unique medical needs.

“The expanded Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) represents our continued dedication to advancing pediatric medicine and ensuring that every child receives the specialized care they need for the best possible outcomes”, said CEO Rachel Goldsmith.

The new PICU features cutting-edge medical equipment, advanced technology, and a carefully designed layout optimized for patient care, comfort, and safety. Our expert team of pediatric intensivists, nurses, and support staff are dedicated to providing the highest level of care to every child entrusted to us, ensuring they receive the best possible outcomes during their time in our care.
