Maternity Care ratings evaluate hospitals that provide labor and delivery services.

San Antonio, TX – U.S. News & World Report, the global authority in hospital rankings and consumer advice, has named Methodist Hospital | Stone Oak as a 2025 High Performing hospital for Maternity Care and Methodist Hospital | Hill Country as a 2025 Maternity Care Access Hospital.

Launched in 2021, U.S. News’ Best Hospitals for Maternity Care ratings evaluate hospitals that provide labor and delivery services. The ratings assist expectant parents, in consultation with their prenatal care team, in making informed decisions about where to receive maternity services that best meets their family’s needs. The ratings now also recognize hospitals offering essential maternity services to underserved communities.

Methodist Hospital | Stone Oak
U.S. News evaluated 817 hospitals from across the United States, of which only half have been recognized as Best Hospitals for Maternity Care for 2025. Methodist Hospital | Stone Oak has earned a High Performing designation in recognition of maternity care, the highest award a hospital can earn as part of the annual study.

The U.S. News Best Hospitals for Maternity Care methodology is based entirely on objective measures of quality, such as C-section rates in lower-risk pregnancies, severe unexpected newborn complication rates, exclusive breast milk feeding rates, birthing-friendly practices, and reporting on racial/ethnic disparities.

“Methodist Hospital | Stone Oak is incredibly grateful to be recognized as a high-performing leader in Maternity Care. This recognition is an honorable testament to the unwavering dedication and expertise our staff provides to make every birth experience safe and memorable for our patients,” shared Michael Beaver, Chief Executive Officer at Methodist Hospital | Stone Oak. “This award also reaffirms our commitment to setting the standard of providing exceptional healthcare and ensuring every mother and baby receives the most supportive care during such a pivotal moment in their lives.”

Methodist Hospital | Hill Country
Introduced last year, the Maternity Care Access Hospital designation recognizes essential hospitals serving communities that would be in danger of becoming maternity care deserts if they were to stop providing crucial maternity care services. This recognition has been awarded to only 118 hospitals nationwide.

Methodist Hospital | Hill Country is among the elite 14% of all U.S. News evaluated hospitals designated as Maternity Care Access Hospitals. This group is designated on a number of measures including geographic isolation, number of obstetric providers per 10,000 births, hospital and care quality, among others.

"We are honored to be recognized as a Maternity Care Access Hospital," said Clint Kotal, Chief Executive Officer of Methodist Hospital Hill Country. "This designation highlights our commitment to providing high-quality care to families in our community who might otherwise face significant challenges in accessing these services. At Methodist Hospital Hill Country, we strive to fulfill our mission of “Serving Humanity to Honor God” by ensuring that every family has access to compassionate and expert care during one of life’s most precious moments. This achievement speaks to the dedication of our team and their incredible work to support the health and well-being of mothers and babies in our community”.
