San Antonio, TX – Methodist Hospital Northeast is pleased to announce that Angela (Angie) Saif, DNP, RN, has accepted the position of Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). Saif most recently served as CNO at Methodist Hospital Landmark and has over 20 years of experience within the healthcare industry.

Saif joined Methodist Hospital Landmark in 2022, before the hospital’s opening. In her role, she spearheaded the planning, staffing, and operational launch of the hospital, successfully meeting all regulatory requirements while ensuring seamless patient care services. Under her leadership, the hospital created a nursing shared governance model with the integration of ancillary team members and maintained zero hospital-acquired infections.

Prior to joining Methodist Hospital Landmark, Saif served as an Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) at Methodist Hospital. As ACNO, she held executive oversight for 23 departments and 900 full-time employees, including inpatient progressive care, telemetry, medical-surgical units as well as dialysis, apheresis, staffing, nursing administration, and rapid response. During her tenure, Saif made great improvements in enhancing employee engagement and strengthening operations. She was instrumental in increasing telemetry capability to 114 beds and the restructuring of the vascular access team and workflow, which resulted in an annual projected savings of $700,000. Saif also helped implement alternate nursing care models utilizing Licensed Vocational Nurses in the inpatient setting to bridge the gap in the nursing workforce in the inpatient telemetry units.

Before joining Methodist Healthcare in 2021, Saif served at Erlanger Health System in Chattanooga, TN, working her way from Trauma Program Manager to ACNO. In her various leadership roles, she held oversight of trauma, acute care surgery, orthopedics, surgical services, and all inpatient nursing departments. During her role as ACNO, she developed creative strategies to increase throughput efficiencies within the hospital, including a partnership with ancillary and nursing departments for supply delivery, which created efficiencies and improved staff satisfaction.

“Angie’s outstanding clinical and operational achievements will enable us to continue providing exceptional, high-quality healthcare to our local community,” said Jerrica George, Chief Executive Officer of Methodist Hospital Northeast. “We are excited to welcome her to Methodist Hospital Northeast and look forward to the collaborative spirit she will bring to our hospital.”

Saif earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Healthcare System Administration from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Kaplan University. She is a Certified Healthcare Operations Professional (DNV-GL) as well as a Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN). Saif is also a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives as well as the American Organization of Nurse Leaders.

Saif assumed her new role today.
