San Antonio, TX – Methodist Hospital | Stone Oak is pleased to announce that Glenn Dennis, MSN, RN, ACNS-BC, has accepted the position of Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). Dennis most recently served as CNO at Methodist Hospital | Northeast and has over 25 years of experience within the healthcare industry.

Dennis joined Methodist Hospital | Northeast in 2019, initially serving as Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO), with executive oversight of eight departments within Critical Care, Telemetry, Observation Service, and Nursing Administration. In 2021, he transitioned to CNO, leading a robust nursing professional practice model, which earned the hospital its second American Nurses Credentialing Center Pathway to Excellence designation. Under his nursing leadership, the nursing teams prioritized employee growth and development, leading to the internal growth of many nursing leaders, with the majority starting as residents. Dennis fosters a culture of belonging, which helped the hospital’s nursing teams to increase engagement and decrease turnover year over year.

Prior to joining Methodist Healthcare, Dennis served as CNO at CHRISTUS Shreveport Bossier Health System in Shreveport, Louisiana. During his time there, he provided executive oversight for nursing practice and operations for three facilities within the region. From 2011 to 2018, Dennis served at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, where he was in roles ranging from Nursing Director of Emergency Services and Critical Care to ACNO. During his tenure, he led multiple growth projects, hospital designations, and re-designations. He was responsible for the creation of two freestanding Emergency Departments, resulting in over a $4 million revenue increase in the first 18 months, and provided executive oversight on the opening of a Sleep Medicine Center that exceeded revenue projections by 140% within one year. However, Dennis is most proud of having led two critical care departments to achieve the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) Beacon Silver Award as well as, being an AACN 2015 Circle of Excellence winner, awarded to only 20 critical care nurses in the country annually.

"We are thrilled to have Glenn join Methodist Hospital | Stone Oak as our Chief Nursing Officer,” shared Michael Beaver, Chief Executive Officer of Methodist Hospital | Stone Oak. “Glenn’s servant leadership and impressive track record for elevating nursing practice will be instrumental for our growth and providing our community with exceptional, high-quality healthcare.”

Dennis earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas - Health Science Center at Houston. His professional vision is to serve, develop, support, and guide staff and leaders to transform how they serve patients.

Dennis will assume his role as CNO effective September 23, 2024.
