Metropolitan greets 2024 with the arrival of the first newborn in San Antonio
Methodist Hospital Metropolitan was excited to greet its first newborn of the year.
Methodist Hospital Metropolitan celebrated the birth of the first baby of the New Year. A beautiful baby boy was welcomed into the world 30 seconds after the New Year on 1/1/2024 at 12:00 AM. This bundle of joy is the perfect way to kick off another year of caring for women and infants, continuing our mission of ‘Serving Humanity to Honor God’ by proving exceptional and cost-effective health care, accessible to all.
For the 24th year in a row, local hospitals came together to welcome Methodist Hospital | Metropolitan’s New Year Baby. Throughout the night, labor and delivery units from across the city collaborated to identify the hospital where the inaugural baby was born. The baby received a collection of gifts from the participating hospitals in honor of the special occasion. The New Year’s Baby gift package included:
- Target gift card and teddy bear donated by Methodist Healthcare
- A gift basket donated by Brooke Army Medical Center
- Kick & Play Piano Gym donated by CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System
- Pack ‘n Play, diaper bag and essentials donated by Community First Health Plans
- A gift basket donated by Baptist Health System
- Infant car seat and safety items donated by University Health
Methodist Hospital Metropolitan’s Suzell Waller Women’s Pavilion is an accredited Level III Maternal Designation and Level III NICU facility through the Texas Department of State Health Services. This stand-alone birthing facility is dedicated to women's services and offers new families a comfortable and memorable experience.
There will be no interviews out of respect for the mother and newborn baby.
