Newborn babies filled their parents' heart this Valentine's Day in special way
Baby's tiny footprints shaped in a heart make for ultimate Valentine keepsake.
For the 4th year in a row, staff within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Food Nutrition Services (FNS) departments at Methodist Hospital | Stone Oak played cupid to host a romantic Valentine's Day dinner for parents with babies in the NICU. The evening gave the parents a much-needed date night while allowing them to be close to their little sweethearts. Having a baby in the NICU can be a challenging and stressful time for a parent. “After being in the hospital for four weeks, not being able to take our baby home has been difficult,” shared Hillary Rena, a first-time NICU parent. “The dinner is a nice gesture and very much appreciated.” During their candlelit dinner, the parents enjoyed a 3-course meal and dessert bar while being serenaded by a live pianist. They were each gifted a keepsake item that included the footprints of their little lovebug, handcrafted by the dedicated nurses who care for each child in the NICU.
