Methodist Healthcare Expands Emergency Services
Methodist acquires five existing freestanding ERs
San Antonio, TX — Today Methodist Healthcare announced the purchase of five freestanding emergency rooms (FSERs), three of which were acquired from Steward Healthcare. The acquisition brings the total of FSERs owned by the System to nine. Once operational, Methodist Healthcare will be the leading operator of FSERs in the San Antonio area.
The five FSEDs are located at: 13434 Nacogdoches Rd; 12805 W. IH-10 (near De Zavala Road); 9211 Potranco Rd. in the Legacy Trails Medical Center; 7898 Kitty Hawk in Converse, Texas and 12285 Bandera Rd., in Helotes, Texas.
“The expansion of access points for all hospital systems is crucial, especially now during a pandemic. We have prioritized the sequence of opening these facilities, and will get them up and running with Methodist staff and physicians to address the medical needs of our community,” stated Allen Harrison, President and CEO of Methodist Healthcare. The addition of the five FSEDs expands Methodist’s footprint in neighborhoods and communities such as the city of Helotes and the Legacy Trails suburb where the population of residents is increasing at a steady rate.
The acquisition aligns with the System’s mission of serving humanity to honor God by providing exceptional and cost-effective healthcare accessible to all by providing additional access points, enhancing services, and improving patient satisfaction.
Details associated with the re-opening of the FSEDs under Methodist’s ownership will be provided at a later time.
