Methodist Hospital South has been renamed Methodist Hospital Atascosa to better reflect the communities it serves, and to further their commitment to the community.

Now Methodist Hospital Atascosa, the hospital was purchased by Methodist Healthcare in July of 2017 and recently celebrated its fourth anniversary with the system. Since being purchased by Methodist Healthcare, the hospital has shown significant growth in the care and services it provides and has a proven track record of patient safety and satisfaction.

"Renaming our hospital demonstrates our commitment to Atascosa County and the surrounding areas," said Greg Seiler, CEO of Methodist Hospital Atascosa. "We are passionate about caring for our community members and providing exceptional and cost-effective healthcare to all. We look forward to supporting the healthcare needs of this county by continuing to grow the services we offer under our new name."

The hospital is proud to serve as the premier healthcare provider in the South Texas region. Beyond offering Methodist-quality emergency care, their comprehensive services have expanded into orthopedics, cardiology, sports medicine, and urology and will continue to grow as the area's needs increase.

The hospital recently welcomed a new Chief Nursing Officer, Tonja Thigpen, who will oversee the hospital's growth. As part of that continued growth, Methodist Hospital Atascosa now offers robotic surgical procedures and recently acquired its first surgical robot, which will significantly benefit patients who require surgery.
