Methodist Healthcare works together with Sarah Cannon, the Cancer Institute of HCA Healthcare, to provide experienced, compassionate nurse navigators to support patients as they go through the many stages of living with cancer.

The cancer nurse navigator is your medical system advocate and will help you, and your family understand each part of the cancer journey while compassionately supporting your physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. The cancer nurse navigator will provide assistance with:

  • Connecting patients with community resources
  • Improving communication between the healthcare team and
  • Overcoming barriers and coordinating care with the entire healthcare team
  • Providing educational materials
  • Understanding diagnosis and available treatment options
  • Understanding what resources are available and how to access them

Are there different types of nurse navigators?

We have several specialized nurse navigators in our oncology program, to provide care specific to your needs.

As a part of Sarah Cannon, the Cancer Institute of HCA Healthcare, our hospitals provide comprehensive cancer services beyond diagnosis and treatment. Together with Sarah Cannon, we have created oncology pathways that help ensure seamless care throughout your cancer journey. Our nurse navigators, who specialize in cancer, are there to support you as you go through the many stages of living with cancer. We have implemented technology systems that help manage all of the relevant details of your care, including appointment management, reminders, surgical consults, eliminating barriers to care, patient interactions and everything in between. This technology works in tandem with our experienced, compassionate staff as a very sophisticated “buddy system” – partnered with you, the patient, to ensure you get the highest quality of care.
