Methodist Hospital Atascosa stories
There is a palpable new attitude throughout the departments. It was obvious to me from the onset. When you exit a hospital stay without one single complaint, you have had the rarest of experiences.
I commit
Annual Cereal Drive for local Atascosa County food bank
Each year, Methodist Hospital Atascosa hosts an Annual Cereal Drive for the local (Atascosa County) Food Bank. The goal is to collect as many pounds of cereal to provide breakfast to underserved children in the area. Last year, Methodist Hospital Atascosa was able to raise 8,718 servings of cereal and support nutritional needs of the underprivileged children in the area.
I achieve
Improve average length of stay - congestive heart failure
Being hospitalized can be a stressful and expensive experience for patients and their family members. In efforts to meet the quadruple aim, we work to decrease and maintain a low average length (ALOS) of stay which allows our patients the ability to return back to their normal lives, as much as possible. In 2018, we were able to significantly improve our Congestive Heart Failure ALOS from 0.75 to 0.51.
Tactics include:
- Consistently ensuring that all interventions are completed in a timely manner as that promotes patient progression.
- Daily interdisciplinary team meeting ensuring all stakeholders are aware of the plan, any pending orders/needs and a general update on patient progress.
- Early identification of home needs that may delay length of stay.
