I commit

Clinical nurse-developed mentor program

In early 2018, Rachel Verme, clinical nurse, developed a mentor program for NEMH new graduate nurses in the residency program. She pulled resources and tools from other HCA organizations and the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses nursing specialty organization to create the mentor program. Mentors were recruited by the nursing managers and directors and then asked to serve as a mentor to the new graduate nurses.

I am empowered

Collaborating with Central Supply to decrease waste

Northeast Methodist Chief Nurse Officer, Holly Weber-Johnson advocated for clinical nurses by partnering with the director of Central Supply, Adrian Aguilar, Talley Fritsch, IT&S interim director, and Mike Angelico, IT&S director in November 2018 to develop a dedicated phone line that allows nurses to call when missing equipment and supplies. Nurses simply call 7-STUF (7-7883) and detail equipment or supplies needed to care for patients on the unit. Using this innovative system has bridged stronger collaboration between nurses, supply chain, information technology, dietary, and EVS.
