The athletic trainer

Very Important Athlete (VIA) Program

At the core of Methodist Healthcare Sports Medicine services is a unique program designed specifically to support athletes throughout the Greater San Antonio area. The Very Important Athlete (VIA) Program gives injured athletes expedited access to one of Methodist Healthcare's neighborhood emergency rooms when an athlete has a medical emergency during a sporting event. Working alongside athletic trainers at various participating schools, the Methodist Sports Medicine team coordinates care so that injured athletes can receive prompt evaluation by our Emergency care teams across the city.
