Employees from Methodist Children’s Hospital will continue their long-time tradition of escorting a balloon in the Battle of Flowers Parade on Friday, April 15, when they celebrate Bootin’ and Scootin’ to Good Health with a balloon representing a giant cowboy.

This is the eleventh year that a team from Methodist Children’s Hospital has escorted a balloon in the parade. About 50 volunteers will guide the balloon through the 2.6 mile long route. Many members of the team are experienced Fiesta balloon handlers and have had to maneuver them under bridges, through the rain, and even off the parade route when one year their balloon was pierced by a tree branch and deflated. They have many humorous stories to share.
