“Our mission of serving humanity to honor God by providing exceptional and cost-effective health care, accessible to all is at the forefront of everything we do,” said Dan Miller, president and CEO of Methodist Healthcare. “Making it easier for communities to connect with the Methodist-quality care they deserve is just one example of that.”

Dr. Michael Lane, chairman of the Methodist Healthcare Board of Governors agrees.

“The Methodist Healthcare Board approval of these fourteen Urgent Care Centers was an easy decision based on San Antonio’s rapid growth rate. Our expected 5-year growth rate is 5.2%, representing 138,470 new lives in this community. As the leading provider of health care in South Texas, we are obligated to keep up with the growth and health care needs of our patients and that includes expanding access points across the city, and beyond.”

The System’s half-owner, HCA Healthcare, also announced today the agreement to purchase urgent care centers across Texas with nine in Dallas, 10 in Austin, three in Houston, and five in El Paso. The acquisition positions HCA Healthcare as one of the nation’s leading providers of urgent care, now operating more than 270 locations in over 20 markets.

This transaction is expected to close this summer. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
