Methodist Healthcare recently hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of their newest neighborhood freestanding emergency room (FSER), Methodist ER | City Base.
Located in the Brooks City Base Landing Shopping Center at 3154 SE Military Dr #103, San Antonio, TX 78223, this facility brings the health system’s total number of FSERs to ten. This new venture aligns well with Methodist Healthcare’s mission of serving humanity to honor God by providing exceptional and cost-effective healthcare accessible to all by providing an additional access point for patients needing quality emergency care.
Methodist ER | City Base is consists of board-certified ER and trauma physicians, registered nurses, and other medical staff who provide quality, compassionate care to families throughout the Brooks City Base community and surrounding areas. Methodist ER | City Base officially opened to the public on January 24th, 2023.
This FSER is specifically affiliated with Methodist Hospital | Metropolitan, in Tobin Hill, near Downtown San Antonio. The hospital is known for its consistency in top scores for patient safety, being a leader in LGBTQ+ healthcare equality, and providing exceptional cardiovascular, orthopedic, and oncology care, women’s services, and more.
Methodist ER | City Base features continuous patient monitoring and testing, a Picture Archiving Communications System (PACS) to transmit electronic images digitally, diagnostic equipment including a 64-slice CT scanner, a dedicated x-ray suite, ultrasound and telemetry equipment, as well as full-service laboratory and radiology capabilities. Methodist ER | City Base can treat serious, sometimes life-threatening emergency medical conditions, including chest pain, respiratory distress, abdominal pain, broken bones or dislocated joints, serious infections, injuries, stroke symptoms, and more.

As an extension of the emergency room at Methodist Hospital | Metropolitan, Methodist ER | City Base, patients will receive a free transfer to the hospital or another Methodist Healthcare hospital if a higher level of care is needed.
