WHAT:

Methodist Stone Oak Hospital will soon reach its one-year anniversary. The hospital has thrived in the Stone Oak community despite uncertain economic times. As a major economic generator in the Stone Oak area, the hospital paid $25 million in salaries last year and currently employs nearly 500 people. More than 900 doctors have privileges at the facility. Approximately 3,000 surgeries have been performed there and more than 14,000 emergency room visits have been recorded. In addition, more than 400 babies were welcomed into the world, with about 10 percent of them needing specialized care in the hospital’s newborn intensive care unit. Methodist Stone Oak Hospital has a rapidly developing neurosurgery program and more than 600 neurosurgeries were performed there last year.

Leaders will announce the initiation of open heart surgery this month. Hospital leaders are also developing plans for a Joint Destination Center of Excellence.

“We also want to take this opportunity to share our success with the community and thank them for their welcoming support during our first year,” says Dean Alexander, CEO, Methodist Stone Oak Hospital.
