We know hospital stays can be stressful for not only patients, but their loved ones. Our goal is to make our facilities as comfortable and safe as possible. Here are some basic tips to help during your stay. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to tell your nurse or nurse manager. Thank you for trusting us with your care.

Before Your Stay

Get familiar with our locations, find important financial information and patient documents, locate nearby hotel accommodations and map out your directions using our easy-to-use resources.

Facility Maps

Facility maps are located on each facilities page.

Items to Bring

It’s not always possible to plan and prepare for hospital stays but when it is, it’s helpful to consider bringing the following items:

  • a photo identification such as a driver’s license
  • proof of insurance
  • a list of your prescriptions
  • an emergency contact list
  • reading material
  • hygiene items and clothing
  • other items that are important to you

Internet Access

Methodist Healthcare offers free web access at many of our facilities. By using our wireless Internet access, you agree to adhere to our guidelines and policy that are presented upon your sign-on.

Visiting Hours

Visiting hours vary depending on facility, unit and individual patient needs. To confirm, please speak to a nurse or have your visitors call ahead for information.

Before You Go Home

Make sure that you understand all of your discharge instructions including prescription information, signs and symptoms to watch for and follow-up arrangements. We encourage you to ask questions.

Advance Directives

We are pleased to provide copies of Texas Advance Directives and other information in the Critical Choices Handbook, available to download from the list of important documents below. We urge you to discuss your wishes with your family and your doctor before completing any of the directives. We encourage adults to consider creating the Medical Power of Attorney to protect your right to direct treatment decisions in the event you become unable to speak for or make decisions for yourself.

Your Role in Patient Safety

Please answer all of the questions your nurses ask of you truthfully and completely, especially concerning all prescription and over-the-counter medications you are taking; allergies; medical history; physician information; your pain and discomfort levels. We want you to be an informed patient and welcome your questions about medications, tests, procedures, surgeries or any other concerns. Contact your nurse or nurse supervisor regarding patient safety.
